What is eUREKA! Reporting?

eUREKA! Reporting is a packaged on-demand reporting analysis application for data housed in your schools’ Student Information System.  

 

How does eUREKA! Reporting differ from products from EduSoft, Data Director, School City and others?

EduSoft, Data Director and School City focus primarily on assessment analysis.  They also provide test banks and other assessment-related solutions.  eUREKA! Reporting, on the other hand, focuses exclusively on analysis and reporting, and encompasses all SIS data, including attendance, grades, schedules and discipline.  

 

Unlike other software, eUREKA! Reporting is tightly integrated with the SIS.  While other solutions claim to integrate with SIS, they require schools to possess intimate knowledge of their SIS data structures and perform many of the integration tasks themselves.  That means schools need to extract and transform data, manually enter data such as student rosters, and design reports.  While some tools are provided to assist in the effort, the process still requires a great deal of time and technical knowledge that most schools don’t have.  

 

eUREKA! Reporting eliminates these requirements.  By packaging these tasks into one application, they are performed automatically.  Because it is “packaged” it is also easy to use and does not require significant training.  Typically users can teach themselves how to use eUREKA! Reporting in a few minutes.

What Student Information Systems does eUREKA! Reporting support?

Currently eUREKA! Reporting supports reporting and analysis against data that resides in Aeries or Powerschool Student Information Systems.  

 

What does “packaged on-demand” mean?

“Packaged” means it comes preconfigured with certain report templates which can either be run as is, or easily modified to change certain characteristics of the report, such as the filter criteria or sort order.  

 

 “On-Demand” means that the application is web-hosted, which means the customer only needs internet access and a browser to use the application.  

 

What are the advantages of a web-hosted application?

If eUREKA! Reporting were not web-hosted, schools would need a server to host the software.  This generally involves a very high up-front cost and requires software installation and maintenance, in addition to hardware resources.  Web-hosted solutions eliminate the need for hardware or software installation and maintenance, and can be used for a low annual recurring fee.

 

Will my SIS data need to be transferred to the web-hosted service?

Yes, but this will occur automatically.  Schools are not expected to perform data extraction tasks.
