Who will “host” eUREKA! Reporting?

Salesforce.com.  Salesforce.com is the Software as a Service (SaaS) platform that eUREKA! Reporting is built on.  Salesforce.com boasts over 40,000 customers and over 500 independent software vendors that build their mission-critical software applications on Salesforce.com.  Schools can be assured that they are dealing with a stable company.

Why do I need to purchase a Salesforce.com license?

eUREKA! Reporting uses Salesforce.com as a development platform.  You cannot use eUREKA! Reporting unless you have a Salesforce.com license.  While we could have packaged Saleforce.com with the product, we decided to let the schools purchase their own separate license since schools get a non-profit discount that would not be available to Discovery Solutions.

Is Salesforce.com expensive?

Not for schools, since Salesforce.com considers schools to be non-profits.  As long as the school submits its 501-C3 letter to Salesforce.com, they receive the first 10 user licenses for free and an 80% discount for each subsequent license.  At the current prices, this discount means that each additional user will cost about $150/yr.  A typical high school will need 10-15 Salesforce.com licenses (5-10 for administrators, and then one for each department chair).  In other words, independent schools with fewer than 10 users can get Saleforce.com for free.  For users who use eUREKA! Reporting only a few times a school year, Saleforce.com also has a “light user” license that charges a nominal fee for each logon.

Do I get anything else for my Salesforce.com license in addition to eUREKA! Reporting?

Salesforce.com provides a very robust development environment for schools.  For example, schools can use Salesforce.com to manage Google Apps.  This allows teachers to use Google Apps easily to build teacher web pages, and collaborate on curriculum, grants, certification and district and state documents.  Another example:  Salesforce.com also comes with a template to help schools manage their fundraising efforts.
